Mary was just a young girl when she realized she wanted to fly planes, and was told “Girls don’t fly.” She ended up proving them wrong. Her love of flying and adventure drew her to Vince, a daring young man who drove around town on his motorcycle and caught her eye. Mary knew this was the man with whom she wanted to share adventures.

During WWII, Vince enlisted in the Army and was assigned to a bomber crew that flew missions over Japan. When he returned home after the war, Vince married his long-time sweetheart Mary. Always one to keep Mary on her toes, Vince came home one day and surprised his 45-year-old wife with a Cessna plane and a series of flying lessons. Since that day, the couple have flown together across the Southwest U.S. and Mexico. Vince and Mary still have their adventurous spirits and are happy to share their stories and flying memorabilia with the friends they’ve made at Rowntree Gardens.
