Gardens Memory Care at Rowntree Gardens Earns Prestigious Accreditation Certification from the Center for Applied Research in Dementia

(Stanton / Orange County, California; August 21, 2019) – Rowntree Gardens is proud to announce their certification as the first California Memory Care Community to become credentialed in the Montessori Lifestyles Approach ®. This accreditation signifies that the administrators and staff of Rowntree Gardens have adopted the Montessori Inspired Lifestyle ® as their signature method for delivering an exceptionally high quality of life for their community members. All departments have been involved in creating this resident-guided community where persons with dementia are given as much control over their own lives as possible. They have created an environment where community members, family, and staff all share the same key values and work toward the same goals – to treat every person with respect, dignity, and equality.

“Staff commitment, compassion and sincere caring are hallmarks of Rowntree Gardens,” stated CEO and Board Chair Randy Brown. “I don’t know whose lives have been more impacted by the 12 Principles of Montessori, our staff or the community members they serve.” Brown continued. “I am incredibly proud of our Gardens Memory Care team, and I can’t wait to see how many more lives they will bless.”

Dr. Cameron Camp, Director of Research and Development at the Center for Applied Research in Dementia, offers senior living professionals and communities accreditation certifications in the Montessori Inspired Lifestyle Approach. Dr. Camp has taken this teaching method, which is traditionally used with young children and retooled it to help people with Alzheimer’s disease regain some of the skills that have fallen prey to their illness. In September of 2018, Dr. Camp began working with Rowntree Gardens to provide training and a rigorous program analysis, which ultimately resulted in Rowntree Gardens earning the first certification in California for the Montessori Inspired Lifestyle Approach. This prominent designation sets Rowntree Gardens apart as an innovative leader in the Memory Care Industry.
